Call to Order
President Chuck Parent called the meeting to order at 10:34.

127 members registered on the sign-in sheets.

Moment of Silence for our departed members and safety of our Armed Forces, followed by singing of ‘O Canada’, led by Ed Chenard.

Approval of Agenda
A motion to approve the agenda, as presented, was made by Mildred Kerrigan and seconded by Brian Houlahan. Passed.

Introduction of Guests and Ottawa Valley Board of Directors
President Chuck Parent introduced the current Board of Directors:

- Treasurer: Doug Schoular

- Health Benefits Officer: Ed Rockburne

and following guests: static display reps: Champlain CCAC – Lise Raciot; Lanark County Mental Health Unit – Lianne Morrison and Heather Hartin; Alzheimer Society – Jammie Bannon; Bayshore Home Health – Sandra McGregor, Johnson Insur. – Shawn McCord; Advantage Heritage Travel and Collette Vacations – Kim Graham and Carolyn ______________. Each of the representatives then spoke briefly about their roles in the community.
- Minutes of last Annual General Meeting
A motion to approve the minutes of the 15 Sept. 2010 AGM was made by Jim Piché and seconded by Ed Chenard. Passed.
- Business arising from the Minutes
None.
- Reports
President’s Report: Chuck briefly summarized his report (included in AGM package) by highlighting; questionnaire results from 2010 AGM and primary FSNA Initiatives. Chuck advised: Branch Bylaws need to be reviewed (now that National Office Bylaws have received Ministerial approval) and brought back for approval at next AGM; increasing Branch Committees will require more membership assistance to be viable.
Jim Piché then provided an update on current court battle of the 32.8 B surplus.
Treasurer’s Report: Doug Schoular presented 2010 audited Financial Statement. Motion to accept by Doug Schoular, seconded by Jim Piché. Passed.
Membership Report: Steve Fahie advised current Branch membership stands at 1664 (2010 breakdown included in AGM package). He provided a summary of successful recruiting campaigns in 2010 and also again requested members to consider paying their dues through DDS to reduce Branch volunteer workload.
Webmaster Report: Steve provided a brief summary of our Branch website and addressed a number of questions.
Health Benefits Officer Report: Ed Rockburne (report included in AGM package) summarized the ‘211 program’, available in Lanark County as of 6 May 2011.
President Chuck then introduced our Regional Services Officer – Jules Arbour.
Mr. Arbour summarized National meeting structures: Congress being renamed to AGM; his 4 Branches meeting later in May in preparation for June National AGM (27-28 June); impact of Bill C-4 on Branch accountability; then gave overview of Board of Directors’ positions and responsibilities.
- Nomination of Branch Board of Directors
Regional Services Officer Jules Arbour then called for nominations for Branch Directors. Having no nominations from the floor, the following Executive agreed to stand for another 2 year term: Chuck Parent; Doug Schoular; Steve Fahie; Judy Buehler; Larry Palmer; and Jim Piché for a one year term. Passed.
President Chuck then presented a $500 cheque to Carol Husband, Eastern Coordinator of the Eastern Regional District of the Ontario Senior Games Association. Carol briefly spoke of the value of volunteerism and of OSGA. The first Regional Games will be held in Smiths Falls 23 Aug. 2011 and has 250 competitors.

- Swearing In of Officers
At 1 p.m., Regional Services Officer Jules Arbour handled the swearing in of the Executive.
- Speaker Presentation: Income Security Program Update: Gabrielle Gagné
Gabrielle Gagné, from Service Canada, provided a very entertaining synopsis on current programs: CPP; CPP Disability Benefit eligibility; Survivor Benefit; Death Benefit; OAS; GIS; and retroactivity for unclaimed benefits.
